Kuldeep Yadav’s Absence Hurt India In Middle Overs, Says Anil Kumble

India scored 233, with the only notable contributions coming from Virat Kohli (65) and Shreyas Iyer (66). Root anchored a gradual recovery as the Indian bowling team was unable to maintain pressure in the middle overs, despite claiming three early wickets as England began their run chase.

“They put England under pressure, but Joe Root’s masterclass took the game away from them,” Anil Kumble told JioHotstar.
“The major problem for India was the fifth bowler. India lacked an offensive option during the middle overs. Bumrah is the lone legitimate wicket-taker in this bowling attack. The others have primarily acted defensively.
But if he continues to be left out, it is a bad indication for India,” Anil Kumble warned.

Despite missing the first two games, left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep remains on the tour team. The team management has dropped the specialist spinner in favour of all-rounders such as Washington Sundar and Axar Patel to bowl in the starting lineup.
