Saba Karim Praises Axar Patel After Match-Winning Show

Following Axar Patel‘s superb performance in India’s six-wicket victory against England in the first One-Day International at Edgbaston on Tuesday, July 14, former India wicketkeeper-batsman Saba Karim lavished him with accolades. After a dismal T20I series, Karim believes Axar regained his form and delivered when the team needed him the most.

Axar was crucial to India’s triumph, first knocking England out for 258 with stats of 4/62 in 9.5 overs and then remaining undefeated on 57 from 52 balls in the chase. In the three-match ODI series, his century partnership with Washington Sundar propelled India to a comfortable victory and 1-0 lead.

Saba Karim was questioned about Axar Patel and Washington Sundar’s unbroken fifth-wicket partnership, which helped India win the chase.

Axar Patel regained his form after struggling in the T20Is against England, according to a former India player. Sundar, on the other hand, was commended for his consistent contributions. Washington Sundar has proven himself in numerous ways. Whenever he had the opportunity, he added value in his own unique way. Axar Patel, on the other hand, has received this knock just in time. He wasn’t performing like this in T20s,” he told JioHotstar.

Saba Karim praised Axar’s batting strategy, stating that the left-hander changed tactics after absorbing pressure early in his innings and scored runs when needed. I also enjoyed how he displayed hostility. He soaked up the pressure a little. He took his time for the first ten balls, but when he hit two big smashes in a spinner’s over, his confidence skyrocketed,” Saba Karim noted.

Saba Karim believes Axar’s earlier success with the ball increased his confidence in batting and motivated him to take on additional responsibility. This is common for all-rounders. If you bowl well, you will profit from it when batting. That was evident in Axar Patel’s batting today. We anticipate seeing this maturity on a regular basis now that he has the necessary experience. It will be extremely impossible to achieve such results until Axar Patel takes control. “So, finally, Axar Patel’s maturity and experience paid off today,” he remarked.

Axar’s unbeaten innings of fifty-seven runs contained five boundaries and one six. Furthermore, after India reached 160/4 in pursuit of 259, he and Washington Sundar, who was undefeated on 52 off 63 deliveries, stitched up an unbroken 102-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
