Bangladesh Confident Over India’s Tour
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) predicts that the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) will approve India’s white-ball tour later this year.
The tour was originally planned for August of last year, but it was postponed due to political issues between the two countries. The Indian Premier League was impacted when the BCCI forced the Kolkata Knight Riders to release Mustafizur Rahman as tensions between India and Bangladesh grew.
However, the BCB has promised more protection in the event that India comes to the country for its white-ball tour. According to reports, Mithun Manhas of the BCCI and Tamim Iqbal, the incoming president of the cricket board, get along well, which might make India’s tour a reality.
“We are optimistic about the tour. The BCCI hasn’t given us the all-clear yet, but they haven’t stated they won’t be attending either. Thus, we anticipate hearing back favourably from the BCCI shortly,” a source for the Bangladesh Cricket Board told TOI via InsieSport.
According to the previously cited source, the BCB had asked for bids for media and television rights for a six-match series because of India’s impending tour. The rumours have since been shown to be false. However, the Men in Blue will most likely travel to Bangladesh for six matches, comprising an equal number of Twenty20 Internationals and three One Day Internationals (ODIs).
India’s tour of Bangladesh may have an effect on subsequent series.
Afghanistan was supposed to travel to India for a Twenty20 series in September. But if the Bangladesh visit goes forward, the BCCI will have to postpone the Afghan series.
Right now, the Men in Blue are in England on a white-ball tour. After losing the T20I series 4-0, they are now participating in the 50-over series. After departing the UK, they will play three 20-over matches in Zimbabwe before travelling to Sri Lanka for two Test matches on August 15.
